The Heritage of Sebastian Village
Our apartment community was named after Dr. Simon P. Sebastian, who was born in the British West Indies and lived in Greensboro, NC.
In 1902, Dr. Sebastian served as an assistant to President James Benson Dudley on the campus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The campus infirmary is also named in honor of Dr. Sebastian and it is said that Dr. Sebastian contributed to the creation of the popular ointment "Vick’s Vapor Rub". He opened the L. Richardson Memorial Hospital on May 4, 1927 located at 603 South Benbow Rd. in Greensboro, NC. Dr. Sebastian served as the Medical Director and Superintendent until 1935.
The Sebastian family home, built in 1928, is located in our apartment community and now functions as the leasing office. All twelve floor plans located in Sebastian Place, Village and Courtyard are named after Dr. Sebastian himself and his loved ones.
